The Tauhara North No 2 Trust was formed in 1993. The block of land covers an area of 326.5000 hectares in total situated in Block XI, XII, XV & XVI Tatua Survey District and shown on ML Plan 22331.

The block was originally managed by the Maori Trustees. Ngati Tahu Tribal Trust got involved in the year 1981. The lessee during this period was Landcorp. However in 1991, the trustees at the time, made the decision that Tauhara North No2 block should be managed on its own because they could see the potential of this block; hence a process was put in place to make that happen. In 1992, the block of land was formally handed back to The Ngati Tahu Tribal Trust. To date the Trust order has seen many, many changes to allow the Trust to continue to move forward.
